Safe Zone @ UC Merced

A place that is free of stereotypical barriers and promotes appreciation and respect for individuals of all sexuality and gender identities.
Safe Zone is a program which identifies students, faculty and staff members who will provide empathy, acceptance, support and resources for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex students and all forms of gender expression. Students will know who they can go to for help by the Safe Zone symbol posted in the individual's workspace. This symbol also means that biased and offensive actions and comments will be addressed in an educational and informative manner.

Individuals have a right to their opinion; however, if someone is stating myths or misinformation about gender and sexual diversity, Safe Zone members will provide more accurate information in a respectful manner.
Safe Zone Mission Statement
Our mission, in accordance with UC Merced's mission statement, is to promote education, acceptance, and confidential support of gender and sexual diversity.
